Ni-Mh Battery

Ni-Mh is stands for Nickel and Metal Hydride. In this kind of battery Nickel Oxide Hydroxide is as in Ni-Cd battery but in place of Cadmium, the negative electrode is made of hydrogen absorbing metal. It has 2-3 times capacity of same size NiCd battery.

Basic properties of Nickel Metal Hydride Battery

1.Specific Energy Density                 60-120 Wh/Kg
2. Internal Resistance                               33-50 mΩ/Volt.
3. Charge-Discharge Cycle Life       300-500
4. Charge Time                                  2-4 Hr
5. Overcharge Tolerance                   Low
6. Self discharge/Month                    30% (at room temp.)
7. Cell Voltage                                    1.2 Volts
8. Charge Cutoff voltage                   indicated by Voltage Signature
9. Discharge Cutoff voltage              1 V/cell at 1C (min.)
10. Peak Load Current                     5C
11. Peak load Current                       0.5C (for best results)
12. Charge - Discharge Temp.          0 to 45 degree C (for best results)
13. Maintenance requirement          60-90 days discharge
14. Safety requirements                    Thermally stable
15. Toxicity                                         Low
