Hacking Laptop Battery

Hacking Laptop Battery 


       This a Laptop battery removed from a laptop, you can use any laptop battery which is not working and assumed it it faulty. Due to its less backup time, batteries are discarded as faulty battery.
But such batteries are not actually faulty.

Disclaimer: Experimenting with Li-Ion batteries is could be extremely harmful to anyone, If you are doing so without proper knowledge of how to handle such batteries don't try it yourself.

Here I am showing you how can any reuse the laptop battery-pack discarded due to low backup time.


The cover of a batterypack is glued at the time of manufacturing.

First search for the joint of the cover. Then use a flat screw driver to open it.



Then Apply some pressure to open it,


When you pull it, you will see a silver colored pack, it is the actual battery.


Do the same from the other End of the battery-pack.

When you open more, you will see there is one more such silver pack.
Now remove the other part of the plastic cover.


Now you will six such silver pack are there. Tear more and check whats inside?


There is a PCB board inside the Battery-Pack. Most of the time when we presume that our laptop battery is faulty, the circuitry is faulty or not works properly. Sometimes unable to charge battery-pack, so the battery-pack not works as expected.

Now we have to disconnect these four batteries from the PCB board.




These batteries are stick together by high performance sticking tape.

         Be careful while detaching the batteries from one another. Batteries should not get punctured by any metallic tool. if so, it may get start burning or heavy spark formed. Because these are Li-Ion Batteries. 



After opening it completely, you will see all six batteries. Now disconnect them carefully no one get short-circuited with its +ve and -ve terminals. It could make heavy spark. It could damage you or itself also.

  


When you check each battery, rating of the battery is printed on it. In this one,
Battery Voltage 3.7 V 700mAh
The current rating is calculated from rating printed on outside of Battery-pack.

Check the voltage of  batteries individually, if any one shows voltage less then 3.7 V,
Then you need to charge it.

for charging a battery you need a power supply which can more current and voltage of the rated voltage and current of the battery.

If the power supply having voltage and current control, it will be much better. Else you can use a Digital multi-meter to do the same.
